She was also appointed as the Support and Services Administrator for an elementary school in the county. She later returned to the classroom to continue her passion of working with at-risk students in middle school.
Since staff and students have returned into the classroom following the COVID pandemic, Dr. Sweeting had observed a shift in the effectiveness of strategies used in the classroom to help students stay motivated to learn, as well as hearing feedback from teachers who had exhausted their toolbox strategies to reach some students. It became her mission to create unique keys to help teachers build relationships with at-risk students so that they can become excited to come to school each day and to demonstrate their best selves each time they enter the classroom.
Whether you are a new teacher, veteran teacher, elementary, middle, or high school teacher of gifted students, general education students, or those with learning disabilities, Dr. Sweeting has recommendations and specific strategies that will help to keep you motivated, positive and to maintain your love for teaching each time you enter your classroom. You not only will learn the keys to building relationships with at-risk students, but also the results of your using these creative techniques daily will change student behavior, increase student performance, and improve your classroom management practices.
